Other elements Alt text failed when item already has alt text?

I can’t find any nested tags.
The find tool doesn’t locate any untagged elements from any category. In the Accessibility Checker results I right-click the failed item but it says selection not found in both content panel or tags panel. 

There seems to only be one figure tag for each item, with one item inside. 

The alternative text is visible inside tag properties window. 

I had to run the document through OCR using online acrobat as a lot of the text pages came in as scanned images. The OCR converted most of them back to live text. The original document didn’t recognise or tag any of the figures and the reading order tool didn’t work to tag them as figures. I used autotag to tag the document created all the figure tags. 

I’m using Acrobat 26.1 on Windows 11

I’ve added a few photos from one example figure. 

If the alt text is already showing in the Figure tag, it may be an accessibility tagging issue rather than missing alt text. You should check the Tags panel and make sure those images are actually tagged as Figure elements and not under "Other" or another tag. You can also try running the Accessibility Check again after saving the PDF. If it still fails, the tag structure may need to be fixed manually in the Tags panel.

The "Other elements alternate text" rule checks for content other than figures that requires alternate text. If the Accessibility Checker reports“Other elements alternate text - Failed” even though the figure already has alt text, it usually indicates that Acrobat has detected additional tagged elements that require alternate text, not necessarily the Figure tag you've already updated.

Please check the following things:

Review the Tags panel: Sometimes a single image may be split into multiple tagged objects, and one of those objects may still be missing alternate text.

• Go to Menu > View > Show/Hide > Side panels > Tags.

• Expand the page structure and look for tags such as Figure, Form, Link, Artifact, or nested elements inside the graphic.

Run "Find" from the Accessibility Checker: This can help identify the specific tag that is failing rather than the visible image itself.

• In the Accessibility Checker results, right-click the failed item and choose Explain or navigate directly to the reported element.

Check for nested Figure tags.

• Complex graphics, maps, or content exported from InDesign may contain multiple Figure tags for a single visual.

• Ensure each meaningful Figure tag either contains appropriate alternate text or is marked as an Artifact if it is decorative.

Verify Object Properties and Tag Properties

• Right-click the Figure tag in the Tags panel and select Properties.

• Confirm that the alternate text is stored in the Tag Properties and not only associated with a separate object reference.
