Question

Outlook desktop app will not automatically open downloaded pdf files

Hello,

I have enabled in my Adobe preferences the following options "Always open PDFs downloaded from other desktop apps" and "Always open PDFs saved from the web".

If I download a PDF file from my browser it will automatically open but Outlook behave in a strange manner, sometimes it correctly opens the attachments I sent or I received but sonetimes it doesn't.

I download 10 attachments maybe just 1 opens the others don't, then the one who didn't open if I download it again after some tries  finally automatically opens and the others don't, sometimes act weird and random.

Thank you for helping me out.

Since PDFs downloaded from your browser open normally, the issue might be related to how Outlook handles attachments rather than your Adobe settings. Try saving the PDF attachments to a folder first, then open them from there to see if they work consistently. You can also check if Outlook and Acrobat are both up to date. If the problem continues, try repairing Acrobat through Help > Repair Installation. It may also help to check whether Outlook has any pending updates.

    Thank you.

90% if times it seems to work fine, but sometimes it doesn't work, so I don't think its Outlook blocking sometihing.

If I open them manually after downloading they work fine.

This sounds like it could be related to how Outlook handles downloaded attachments rather than an issue with Adobe's PDF preferences. Have you tried saving the attachments to a different folder and opening them manually? It may also be worth checking whether Outlook has any restrictions on opening downloaded files. Does the same issue happen with every PDF attachment or only certain ones?
