page I saved is now opening up with complete gibberish

I have been editing a file and saved it but when I opened it, it is now complete gibberish. Is there any way to get this to change back to what it is supposed to be?

This is usually a font problem, and oftentimes related to a bad PDF file. If you did a normal save and not a save as, there is a chance that you can recover the original file. It is not trivial, so don't work on the original file, make a copy of the file and then work on the copy: http://khkonsulting.com/2017/10/pdf-time-machine/
