Partial text recognition ocr error

Hi,

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro regularly, including the ocr text recognition tool. I downloaded a large pdf file where all pages were images. I used the text recognition tool but only about half the pages were recognized. For the second half, I got the following error message:

Acrobat could not replace the current page with the new recognized page because of the following error:

Bad parameter

This could be due to either a low memory situation or low disk space.

And

Acrobat could not perform Text Recognition on this page because:

Unknown error

I tried making more space so I now have 160 GB free disk space but the problem persists. I can't find a pattern in which pages have or have not worked, except perhaps that the formatting is a bit different, two or three columns with a long vertical line separating them, for instance.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for how to fix this issue.

Thanks for this! I was getting the same error as the OP when trying to run OCR. I opened the file, File > Create > Combine Files into a Single PDF, added the file, and combined (I was a little confused because there was nothing to combine it with, but I just went with it). Once I saved, I was able to run OCR like normal.
