Question

Password protect multiple PDFS with unique passwords

Hi there, I have a number of PDFS which require password protection. Each pdf has a unique password. Is there a fast way to do this? I am currently using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I do not wish to download/buy additional software as this is required for a business and there are download restrictions.

Otherwise, can this be achieved with a script of some sort? Python?

Please advise.

Thanks in advanced for your help.

It is possible when you create a plugin for Adobe Acrobat.

I've written plug-ins to set passwords, and I set it up to be activated from JavaScript, so it can be part of a larger automation.  So yes, this is entirely possible, but it 's a custom job. Contact me if you are interested.

yes please! I am not a tech guru so I'd love to hear more about it. Would this be at a cost?

A script is "additional software"... Anyway, this can't be done with just a script, or with the built-in commands in Acrobat. You would need an external tool, or maybe a plugin.

I thought you were not interested in a paid solution, but it seems you are... In that case I've created stand-alone tools that will do exactly that. If you're interested feel free to contact me privately via [try6767 at gmail.com] to discuss it further.

    Here's a similar (paid-for) tool that I've created: https://www.try67.com/tool/batch-encrypt-pdf-files

Let me move this to the Acrobat forum for you, which is the appropriate forum for your question.

The Using the Community forum is for help in using the Adobe Support Community forums, not for help with specific programs. Product questions should be posted in the associated product community.
