Password protected PDF

Can anyone tell me why I can't open a password protected file on my PC.  I can on my laptop at home.  And I used to be able to.  Settings somewhere?  The message I get this.  Thanks if you can help.  Perhaps it's the office security/firewall.

This message comes from Microsoft Edge. It isn't a problem with Adobe software, you aren't using Acrobat Reader.

Hi.  Yes!!!  I think you're correct!  This rings true with another issue I had with MS Edge.  I will check again when next in the office.  Thanks very much!!

What app does you use to open the PDF file?

the document is an email attachment which I'm opening with Acrobat Reader.  Using MS Outlook, open email message, select the attachment menu and then select Open.  This launches Acrobat Reader.

If I do this on my office computer, I get the above error message.

If I do this on my home computer, I get the password prompt.

We are sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to open the secured PDF file.

 

Would you mind sharing the workflow/steps you are doing to open the PDF file?  Are you opening the file in a web browser? If yes, please try to download the PDF file locally to your computer and then try to open with Adobe Acrobat /Reader DC and check for the issue.

 

Also, you may try clearing the cache of the web browser and see if that makes any difference. You may also try switching to a different browser and see if that works for you.
