PDF and Docx files

Why does this message come up when opening a pdf file?

“Starting the application that created the selected document. Please wait.”

While in Word, went to File / Save As / PDF

That's a Microsoft command. To use Adobe's go to the Acrobat tab in the ribbon and click on Create PDF.

This started as a word file and then saved as a pdf. This message shows up when opening the pdf file.

Sounds like the file might be corrupt. How did you convert it, exactly?
