Your version(s) of software and platform may be different, but this should cover what you need. The one I'm going to use to is a Windows 11 PC with the latest versions of Excel 365 and Acrobat DC Pro.

I have a four-sheet spreadsheet I use for automotive calculations. Only two have any content on them. When I installed Acrobat DC, it created a separate set of ribbon tools for Acrobat in all my Office 365 applications.

  • I select the Acrobat ribbon set, then click on the Create PDF button.
  • This opens the Acrobat PDF Maker dialog box. At the top are the Conversion Range radio buttons. The default setting is Sheets. While I have 4 sheets in this spreadsheet, Gears, Engine, Brakes and Suspension, only the two I have content on, Gears and Engine, are available to print.
  • Change the radio button from Sheets to Entire Workbook in the Conversion Range radio buttons and you should be able to create a PDF, with limited formatting controls.

Changing the Conversion Options radio button let me put an each sheet on its own page. But because the default setting is vertical and the spreadsheets are not, they printed in miniscule size.

To get better results, I went to print a PDF instead, because it gave me better control over how the resulting PDF would look.

  • Select the File in the Ribbon options to open the File dialog box, then choose the Print command at the left side of the dialog box.
  • This opens the Print dialog box. Here we have a lot more controls, including a proxy window that will let us see a preview of what pages will be made without burning up paper.

  • In the illustration above, I've changed the Printer: options box from my default laser printer to Adobe PDF, Orientation options button to Landscape, and the Scaling button to Fit All Columns on One Page.

This got me reasonably-sized PDF pages for each sheet of my Racing Spreadsheet.xlsx file in my Racing Spreadsheet Printed.pdf.

Hope this helps,

Randy

@Randy Hagan Unless I completely misunderstood the question, the problem was getting content _from_ a PDF to Excel.

Upon further review ...

It appears you're quite right, and I completely misunderstood the question.

I'll have to take another pass at this later, when I get free from other work. Mea culpa.

I've always had better results selecting each page (click and drag) and right-clicking to export as Excel.

It's can be a pain to do one at a time, but it usually works.

Another thing that usually works is to crop the header/footer from each page in Acrobat Pro, leaving just the content to export.
