PDF files inside linked folder can't be opend

Hi 

I hope somebody can explain this strange behavior. 

We have created links to folders inside a PDF-file.
When we click on this link the folder will be openend in the windows file explorer. 
Inside this folder are other PDFs.
Now the strange behavior: 
We are able to open some of these PDFs, but not all. Some will open immediately after clicking on them other files will do mothing. No error message or anything else. Just nothing. When try to open it with another PDF viewer e.g. Edge it also works. But Adobe Reader is the default program and it should also work with that. Also with different users the same files are affected. 
When I navigate manually to that folder in the file explorer without using the link I am able to open all files in that folder with every software (Adobe DC, Adobe Reader, Edge tested), so it can't be a problem with access rights. 

It just doesn't make sense. Has somebody an explanation for this?

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble.

 

As mentioned above, the files do not open, and there are no error messages. Also, links are created to the folder on the machine. Is that correct?

Would you mind sharing a short video with us? Will it help us to understand it better? Also, let us know if you use Reader DC and Acrobat DC on the same machine. If yes, would you mind sharing the version details of both, and is it an issue with both applications?

Share the OS on your machine.

Hello Meenakshi, 

the links are going to a folder on a server and yes, there are no error messages when I try to open the files. It just doesn't do anything. 
Unfortunately I can't share a video, because of our company guidelines. 
Yes, there is Acrobat Reader ans Acrobat DC on the same machine and the issue is with both applications. 
Version Acorbat Reader: 2021.011.20039

Version Acrobat DC: 20.009.20063

OS: Win10
