When i copy PDF file to a dfifferent folder within the same directory (on the same local drive), the PDF fails to open and Adobe Acrobat pops a message saying "There was an error opening this documen. Access denied."

However, if i drop the file in Edge, it opens. Why wont the copied file open in Acrobat again?? This is really annonying! Im using the latest version (switched from the classic to use AI) and made no additinal changes.

Thanks

Hi @oswald_3915,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Could you please try switching back to the classic view and let us know if the error persists? Just to clarify, the transition between the classic and new UI does not alter the PDF itself in any way.

It’s possible that the file contains a structure that doesn’t fully conform to PDF standards—something that other viewers, like Edge, might be more lenient with.

If you’re comfortable sharing the PDF (and there are no privacy concerns), we’d be happy to take a closer look to better understand and investigate the issue.

Regards,

Hi @oswald_3915

Thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the troubled experience. I am hoping this is your personal machine, not an IT-managed office machine.

Could you try the following and let us know if that helps:

Methods for running an app as an administrator:
1. Run as an administrator on demand:
  • Right-click the app's icon or shortcut.
  • Select "Run as administrator".
  • You may be prompted for administrator credentials if needed.

2. Run as administrator by default (I would suggest this one; you can also change back to how it was, if this doesn't work) :
  • Right-click the app's icon or shortcut and choose "Properties".

  • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Check the box "Run this program as an administrator".
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK".
  • From now on, the app will automatically run as an administrator when launched.
