PDF fillable form not working for users

I created a fillable PDF form and sent it to someone. The recipient cannot type in the form fields. She types and nothing happens. Also, when I highlight existing fields, only a few of the fields appear. I am working in Adobe XI Pro. What may be happening? Thank you!

What application is the recipient using to open the file with?

Are you sure? Ask for full-window screenshots of the file on their system. Many users think they use one application when in fact they use another, especially when they open the file inside a browser window.
