PDF Links Within Documents

Hello,

I work with architectural drawings.  I have seen on one set the ability to click on an architectural bubble and have it take you to the appropriate detail on a different page.  For example, the text 2/A7.02 in an architectural bubble notation on page A401, I click on this and it takes me to the appropriate area on page A7.02.  How is this accomplished?  Can the creation of these links be automatic?  I want to avoid flipping back and forth between pages endlessly, it would save me much time and I know it's possible because I've seen it.  Thanks!

Yes, that is done using links, most likely.

And yes, it can be automated. For example, I've developed this (paid-for) tool that allows you to generate links that perform various actions (like jumping to another page in the file) based on a search string: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Create Custom Links from Text
