Question

PDF locked for editing...digital signature allows editing

Hello!

I have a PDF file that was sent to me, from my property manager.  The Acrobat program keeps telling me that the file is digitally signed and cannot be updated for edits.

I reviewed the properties of the digital signature and the certificate states the owner of the document allowed editing on the form

Not sure if I am missing something, if there's something wrong with my program, or if it's the originator's issue.

Please help!  Thank you!

Hi Suzieq529,

Apologies for the delay in response to your query and it is possible that you may have found an answer already.

As per the general behavior of the Adobe Acrobat DC app, a digital signature locks the document to prevent any further editing. If is an electronic form, the form fields however may still be unlocked for you to fill out but depends on initial owner of the file.

Also the certificate attached shows that the file was signed using a third party app ( Docusign ) so it may behave slight differently as compared to the files signed using Acrobat DC or Adobe sign, however the file would still be locked.

Please reply if you need any further assistance with this.
