Question

PDF not printing

My Adobe Acrobat Standard PDF file does not print. It’s not the printer because the printer can print other files. It’s just this particular file that doesn’t print. Can someone provide a solution or recommendation?

I’m glad you got results. As I understand what you wrote, you could not print from within Acrobat, but you could open the PDF in a browser and print from there?

    1. that can’t be right
    2. Do what works.

I can think of two possible reasons:

    1) The file is locked to prevent printing (unless you know the password, you cannot print it). Unless you see some dialog letting you know the file is protected, that is probably not the reason.

    2) The file is not made by Acrobat and is not made up to Acrobat’s standards. I had this happen some 20-ish years ago. I was able to print the file just fine using Apple’s Preview application, but it would not pring on it’s own. You do not say if you’re on a Mac or PC, but either one has an application that lets you read and print PDFs. Try that.

Please let us know if this works, thanks!

    Gary,

I want to update my original question of not being able to print Adobe PDFs. I have a PC with Win11 and a wide format inkjet printer. I think that sharing my screen to solve the printing problem with a computer technician altered the settings with my printer. So, trying to print a PDF directly wouldn’t work. What I found out was that you had to first open the PDF with a designated browser, e.g. Edge, Google Chrome, etc. Then the printer would do it’s thing.

    Your interest was appreciated.

    Thanks, jimjks
