PDF of Vector map that I can not print and to slow to work with, but only 12mb.?

I have a PDF of a map that I acquired from the Florida geological survey that runs incredibly slowly on my computer. Also when I attempt to print the file, which is originally only 12mb grows to roughly 800mb and will not print.  What can I do to speed up the rendering of this file and be able to print the file? Here is a link to the file.

That's how complicated the file is. In 10 MB there can be an enormous number of vector instructions - millions. There can also be filling with complex patterns. The small size compared to the print size just shows how fabulous PDF compression really is. Zoom in to see the amount of detail.

If you are willing to trade quality for accuracy, try the "print as image" option under advanced. That should produce a smaller print file, but you are stuck with the slow screen display.

Hello! Because I am not super familiar with a lot of super specifics of PDF terminology. Would you care to explain to me what is going on in that PDF?  I would have thought that somehow "flattening" it would fix it, maybe I am confused about what flattening is. Would you be able to explain to me what exactly "flattening" is and what is going on in that PDF because it seems to load each vector graphic almost like a layer, but there are not layers from me understanding? I guess I am just looking for an education, would you be able to help me, please?

Use images for this, not vector graphic.

Hello, I am sorry, I think you might have misunderstood my original post. I did not make this pdf but am being forced to use it. Is there anything that you know of that I could do to help me with the problems I posted in my original message?

Do you own Adobe Acrobat?
