pdf printouts are fuzzy

I was using Preview to print pdfs and got nice sharp black and white printouts, just like word documents.  I switched to Adobe DC and my printouts are fuzzy with grey logos etc.  It does the same with Reader.  I have tried with both grayscale and not, and it does the same thing.

Also, I'm not getting it to print a page at 100%, it is more like 90% or less.

Preview? So you are on a Mac OS system. It would be nice to learn about your system and also printer and driver version.
