PDF's look awful now

Ever since the most recent update, any PDFs I create from Word, no matter the font, look awful! Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a way to force people into the new subscription? Those decisions are all higher up than me in my company, but I'm distressed by how bad things suddenly look!

Go to Menu (or Edit, if you're on the old UI) - Preferences - Page Display and set Smooth Text to "For Monitor".

Hi Christine350637008cup,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

As mentioned, PDFs created from a Word file look awful. Could you please share some sample files and the steps to convert the file to PDF?

When you say recent update, do you mean the Acrobat version 25.001.20672? Please check and confirm. Did you create the Word file?

More information would help us to investigate this issue further.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Our company frequently has us reboot with Adobe Acrobat updates. I know there was one last week. Ever since then, documents and forms that previously looked good now appear as if they were made from bad photocopies or something. It was so bad that I recreated one of my forms in Word, where it looks great; however, once I save it as a PDF, it appears awful. I have tried several different fonts. Even the lines on the tables look messed up now. I’ve checked to see if it’s something to do with my display, but it only appears on PDFs. All other graphics on my computer look the same.

These are interactive PDFs used as forms, so their readability is essential. I’m not sure what happened, but I noticed the difference last Thursday or Friday. I was hoping to find information on this platform about others experiencing the same issue.

Saying something appears "awful" is not very helpful to us. At the very least, share a screenshot of what it looks like now vs. before. Also, do files that you created earlier look fine, or are they "awful-looking" as well?

And if you could share a sample file, that would be even better...
