Question

PDF thumbnails issue

Windows10 Explorer has recently had a problem with displaying pdf previews, see screenshots.

The background is transparent or black. Is this related to some windows update or what?

Something else: PDF display overall is pretty weird, it keeps resetting the link settings to the default program, and I have to keep associating it with AReader.

Thanks for the response and some advice.

Peter

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the background of PDF thumbnail is transparent or black.

Would you mind sharing the version of the Adobe Acrobat DC you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the latest version 21.05.20060 installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also check for any missing/pending update for Windows OS and try updating it and see if that helps.

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Windows and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes

Regards

Amal

hi Amal,

there's nothing to apologize for, even if you are Adobe.
I've been experiencing similar problems for years with other high-end sw as well.

The version is the latest one, not full Acrobat DC, but Reader czech version. See screenshot.
Windows OS is regularly updated, admin profile I tried a new one.

It is probably a thing that maybe related to MSEdge browser. When I tried to uninstall it, I can't do it the normal way. If I knew that, I wouldn't be doing it. But I wanted to associate pdf files with Adobe Reader, but after 5minutes it was again under the reign of this program. Now Edge is gone, but some remnants are still in the OS, and it makes a mess - it resets the pdf association with any other program, also with your Reader. And maybe it also does this thing with displaying thumbnails. I don't know what to do, I don't want to reinstall os. And then I don't know if it will come back again.

Thanks for the advice
Peter
