PDFs only opening on desktop

Adobe Acrobat Pro will ONLY open pdfs from my desktop NOT from a folder...Sonoma 14.6.1. My subscription is up top date.

I have said all tis to your tech who couldn't help me. Someties the error message says "crashed" some time no error message. We have tried openog Acrobat Pro files from the app a dn fro folders...only open on desktop. It has been perfecet for many years, why mnow? Also, there is no appshowing in the applications folder. This is a BIG proble for me and my business....please view this as URGENT. I am supposed to be getting a call today from Adobe...but, you know...

When happens when you try to open these files? Is there an error message?

Also, are you trying to open them by double-clicking them from Finder, or via the application itself?
