PDFs opened in Edge have characters missing

Hi. Some PDFs on our website are displaying slightly wrong. When viewing the website in Microsoft Edge, a PDF is clicked in and selected to open, it opens the PDF within the web browser. In some PDFs the characters 'ff' are missing. If that open PDF is printed, the characters are not visible on the page.

When the same PDF is saved to a local drive, the characters can be seen and print as expected.
Any ideas?

What application are you using to view the local PDF file?

Edge comes with its own PDF viewer, so if the characters show up in e.g. Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader, but not in Edge, I would suspect that there is something wrong with how Edge renders the PDF.

Are all the fonts embedded or subset embedded in the PDF file? If that is not the case, try to subset embed the fonts and give it anther try. If that works, then you need to perform the same step with on all your PDFs.
