Problem: Acrobat does not display full certificate chain (Root → Intermediate → End-Entity) when signing with SafeNet eToken. Certificates are correctly installed in Windows (Local Machine). Please advise.

Hi yunior_7854,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Please try the following suggestions:

1. Ensure the Certificate Chain is Available to Acrobat. Acrobat does not automatically use the Windows Certificate Store to build the full chain unless explicitly configured.

  • Go to: Edit > Preferences > Signatures > Verification > More
  • Under Windows Integration, enable:

       - “Trust all root certificates in the Windows Certificate Store”.

       - “Load trusted root certificates from the Windows Certificate Store”.

2. Manually Import Intermediate and Root Certificates

Even if certificates are in the Windows store, Acrobat may require them to be added to its Trusted Identities:

  • Go to: Edit > Preferences > Signatures > Identities & Trusted Certificates > More
  • Under Trusted Certificates, click Add Contacts, then manually import the intermediate and root certificates.

3. Check SafeNet Token Configuration

  • Please make sure the SafeNet Authentication Client is up to date.
  • Open the client and verify that the full certificate chain is visible and correctly linked.
  • If not, re-import the certificate chain into the token or reinitialise it with the correct chain.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
