Plotting to Adobe from Civil 3d/ Autocad File Freezes When Opening

We are having issues with autocad/ civil 3D files causing Adobe Acrobat Pro to freeze and not respond.  Very frustrating as we have used the same work flow for a long time, not really sure what has changed and whether its a Autocad problem or a Adobe problem. Anyone had a similar problem?
