popups in pdf file similar to javascript?

I found a neat ancestry chart of the Royal Family.  I would like to do something similar in pdf.  I start with small pictures then a mouse hover over pops up a larger version of the same picture  I would like the photo to popup in the center of the screen and almost but not filling the screen.  Then the images goes away with mouse out.  is this possible with Acrobat Writer:

May be possible to show/hide buttons with icons.

I get stopped in my tracks even before I start with the buttons.  I insert a button where the name is.  I prefer to have the larger photo on a separate page.  When I go to insert the button, I click the insert icon then draw to include the name and make the button not visible.  Then it tells me I need another button.  I wanted to go to the page with the larger photo but there is no dialogue to allow me to do that.  What now?  I am not all that great with the advanced features of Acrobat Writer.
