Power Point with PDFMaker crashing

I am getting the following error when trying to create a PDF with any powerpoint file: “PowerPoint is running into problems with the 'pdfmaker.officeaddin' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates.”

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Updated Microsoft Office
  • Repaired Microsoft Office
  • Updated Adobe Acrobat
  • Repaired Adobe Acrobat
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe Acrobat
  • Ran Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool
  • Disabled/re-enabled Adobe PDFMaker COM Add-in
  • Tested with blank PowerPoint presentation
  • Disabled hardware graphics acceleration
  • Tested PowerPoint Safe Mode
  • Tested with a new Windows profile
  • Reproduced on a second workstation
  • PDFMaker works in Word.
  • Native PowerPoint PDF export works.

Event Viewer Logs:

  • Faulting application name: POWERPNT.EXE
    Faulting module name: AdobePDFL.dll
    Version: 26.2.21996.0
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
  • Event Name: OFFICE_MODULE_VERSION_MISMATCH

    P1: AdobePDFL.dll
    P2: POWERPNT.EXE

Both Adobe and Office are fully up to date.

I tried it on two presentation and it worked perfectly.

Did you uninstall and reinstall PPT, and then repair Acrobat (to reinstall PDFMaker again)?

I went back to a previous version of O365 (removed then rebooted and installed older version via xml file in cmd) then repaired Acrobat and all worked in PowerPoint. It may go again once Office updates so was just a test as I’ve not disabled any Office updates. Just have to wait until Microsoft or Adobe fix this?

Seems like it affects Office version 20146

Ripped out Office and Adobe using cleaning tools. Does it on 2 profiles on the Windows 11 PC.

Word seems to work but PowerPoint will hang/crash.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue with Adobe PDFMaker in PowerPoint.

The problem started on October 6, 2026, even though everything had been working normally before then. PowerPoint crashes whenever I try to create an Adobe PDF, even with a completely blank presentation.

Event Viewer shows the same faulting module (AdobePDFL.dll), exception code (0xc0000005), and OFFICE_MODULE_VERSION_MISMATCH error.

I've tried updating, repairing, and reinstalling both Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, updating Windows 11, disabling other add-ins, and testing with a new Windows user profile. Unfortunately, nothing has resolved the issue.

Adobe PDFMaker works perfectly in Word, and PowerPoint's native PDF export also works without any problems. The issue occurs only when using Adobe PDFMaker in PowerPoint.

Has anyone found a working solution or workaround? I would really appreciate any updates, as I urgently need this feature for my academic work.

I am having the same issue. I have tried reinstalling PPT and repairing Acrobat, but it still crashes. The currently accepted answer to this issue is not an answer.

For more detail, I have this issue on both of my systems, and both are running the latest version of Win11, PPT and Adobe. Microsoft Word is able to successfully generate a PDF.

I didn’t mark it correct. Don’t know who did.

However, it would be correct IF it worked for the original poster. It didn’t mean it would work in all cases.

The “latest version” is too vague--please list the actual version numbers.

Had the same issue on a Windows 11 PC today. Completely removed office and adobe (both cleaning tools used). Tested on 2 separate user profiles. Word works with converting but PowerPoint will crash/close or sometimes just stay open. Event Viewer shows:

Microsoft PowerPoint: Rejected Safe Mode action : PowerPoint is running into problems with the 'pdfmaker.officeaddin' add-in.

I even update Adobe Acrobat logged in as admin. Do we just sit tight on this until Adobe or Office make a fix?
