Powerpoint 2013 CreatePDF crashing for slide selection with Adobe Acrobat 2017

I'm looking for help with confirmation of a bug in the Powerpoint 2013 add-on for Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017. Previously in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI when I created a PDF from Powerpoint 2013 all was good. Now in version 2017 when I export less than the full set of slides for a presentation the add-on crashes Powerpoint. It is absolutely reproducible and has been confirmed by another user at my institution, although that is for our system configuration of Powerpoint 2013 and Windows 7 Enterprise. However, I would appreciate it if another user could confirm this before I try our raise it with Adobe via our IT support (I can't contact Adobe support because the software was installed by our IT group and I don't have the registration code for my account). All you have to do is make a single blank slide in Powerpoint then use the CreatePDF function and select the Options to only choose the first slide ('1' to '1' in the Slide Range). If it crashes don't forget to NOT disable the add-on when you next restart Powerpoint (it takes 'no' and 'no' answers to the dialog requests).

Note that I just updated to Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 Version 2017.011.30068 and it is still present in that version.

Thanks very much for your help.

Kind regards,
Darin

[PS. Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere - I searched but could not find anything similar. ]

Hello darino59928954

Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please check for the latest updates of Acrobat from Help>Check for updates. You may also download and install the updates manually from Overview — Acrobat and Adobe Reader Release Notes

Restart the machine after the installation of the updates and see if this makes any difference.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Dear Anand Sri,

Thanks very much for your comment. I updated Adobe Acrobat to release 17.011.30070 and it still has the same bug. I even disabled other Add-ins in PowerPoint to make sure there wasn't a conflict. The conversion gets to "Converting document information ..." then crashes, very reproducibly at the same spot. It is a little surprising because the Add-in looks very similar to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI so I was surprised the code had changed, but I guess that is the joy of software development. I did notice that the PDFMaker Add-in used in PowerPoint 2013 is PDFMOfficeAddin.dll which does not appear to have updated sine April 2017, whereas most of the others (including the dedicated PowerPoint add-in for what must be another version of PowerPoint) have.

The workaround at present is to just create a PDF for the whole slideshow then to delete the pages in Adobe Acrobat. Would be nice, however, to see it fixed in a future software release. Alternatively, if someone can confirm that it doesn't happen with PowerPoint 2016, I'll have a good excuse to hassle our IT folk for an upgrade.

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Darin
