Question

Powerpoint files that had successfully converted to PDF now display with different background.

Problem:   I have powerpoint files that had successfully converted to PDF. All of a sudden, when I open the PDF the background appears differently. The first image (top) displays the PDF as it should look, using Preview (the built-in Mac viewer). The second image (bottom) is of the PDF using Acrobat Pro XI (11.0.18). Instead of the blue gradient, the image is white. When another user opens the same PDF on her Windows machine it displays properly, blue gradient intact.

Related Forum Post:   My issue is similar to the one linked below. That problem was resolved by Acrobat > Preferences > Accessibility > Replace Document Color was  turned on when it shouldn't have been. In my case, the accessibility setting was fine.

PDF No Longer Has Dark Background When Exported from MS Word 201

OS:  I'm running Sierra 10.12.1.

My thanks to anyone who can assist.

If your PDF views correctly in Preview, but not Acrobat, I suspect there are some layers that are turned off. (Preview will ignore the layer state and show you all layers) In Acrobat, set the layer properties default state to on.

Another possibility is an image effect from Powerpoint is set to overprint and your Acrobat display preference is set to not show overprint. Acrobat> Preferences> General> Page Display> Use Overprint Preview [Always]. If this fixes the issue, you may be able to flatten the PDF so the file will appear correct regardless of the Acrobat view preference setting.

*Bump.*  Can anyone help me with this?

I wonder if the problem mentioned above is related to an image distortion problem I'm also experiencing. As with the original post, this problem does not appear when the PDF is viewed on a different machine.

Screenshot, .pdf viewed in Acrobat Pro, showing distorted images

Thank you,

Hi curt1030,

I am sorry for taking so long to respond.

Could you please try installing the latest patch for Acrobat and see if that helps?

You may also download updates manually from this link: Adobe - Acrobat : For Macintosh

(Scroll down the page to get to the version 11.0.x)

Have you tried converting other powerpoint files? Do they exhibit the same behavior?

What are steps involved in converting the files?

Awaiting your response.
