Question

Print a PDF with sticky notes info visible?

I'm using Acrobat Pro, version 8.1.2.

A client has sent me a corrected proof -- a PDF with a zillion sticky notes. (I know nothing about sticky notes.)

Other than bouncing back and forth between the original InDesign file and the PDF and clicking on a different sticky note each time and trying to remember where each correction goes (which isn't easy because the positions of the sticky notes aren't precise), I can't see any way to do these corrections easily.

Is there any way to print out the PDF with ALL sticky notes info visible?

If not, I might just tell the client I can't do it. Of all of the ways that clients have sent me corrections, this might actually be the most annoying.

Print with Comments Summary works great. There's one snag, which is unrelated to the Print with Comments option.

The original PDF shows two pages on a 17 x 11 pages side by side. Only one page had stickies, so I cropped it so there's only that one 8.5 x 11 page now.

But even after saving it to a new PDF after cropping, Acrobat remembers the original 17 x 11 page size. So when I create the Print the Comments Summary page, when I print it out, it's shrunk way down to fit the page because Acrobat is still reserving the original 17 x 11 page size.

I can work around it by Printing with Comments to a new PDF, and then cropping that PDF. But it's an extra step.

So how do I crop a PDF (I run into this problem a lot) and get Acrobat to forget about the original page size??

    Thanks,

In AA8.1.2, you can use COMMENTS>Print with Comments Summary and select different ways to display the comments. You can print these to a new PDF that would flatten the comments also. You get the same result in the print menu if you select summarize comments. If you simply print with markup, the sticky notes do not appear.

I don't know about 8.1.2, but in version 7 you have to do two things:

    1. Under Preferences (CTRL + k) select > Commenting > Print notes and pop-ups

    2. In the Print dialog, in the "Comments and Forms" dropdown, select "Document and Markups"
