Print from PDF to PDF

I used to be able to take a multi-page pdf file (that I had scanned in from my scanner) and print individual isolated pages to a new pdf file. However, it no longer works as of about two weeks ago. Having this ability was really a time-saver because I had the page open there in front of me so I knew what to name the new PDF filename and it would automatically prompt to print it to the last file folder I had done that with.

Now, since I can no longer do that, I have to split the pages, open each one individually, "save as", browse to where it needs to go, and save there. It's cumbersome, especially if my original scanned PDF has numerous pages that I have to repeat this process with.

What happened to the ability to print from PDF to a new PDF?

You can extract and save the pages.

Thank you.  🙂  I took another go at it and the checkbox for "Extract pages as separate files" has to be unchecked for the page to show up in another tab. Otherwise it prompts you for where to save the extracted page.

I know how to split the pages and I also see that the extract function is right within the organize tool. Unfortunately, it only shows a thumbnail of the page to extract and the process for my workflow is no different than splitting the pages as far as process goes. I still have to browse to where it saved the extracted page (that it didn't give me the opportunity to name in the extract process) and then rename it.  Our nomenclature is in the format Lastname,Firstname_DateDocumentTransacted. It's not as cumbersome if it's a simple and straight-forward name...but many names are not spelled so easilty. With the "print" function, I could see the name on the page without having to bounce back and forth.

All I'm really asking is why was a change made to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC which used to allow me to print from individual pages of a pdf to a separate pdf file where I can name it what I need to in the process of the work-flow? Or was this function merely placed somewhere else that I've not been able to find?

When you extract pages it will not save the file. You will see the extracted pages.

What's the exact version number of the application? What's your OS version?

And splitting is the better way of doing it, by the way...

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2020.012.20043
My OS is Windows 10 Home version 1903 build 18362.1016

While I would agree about splitting being "better" if it was an external PDF that needed to have things preserved, but I don't agree in this situation. These are internal scans of paper documents, internally produced to reduce the clutter of paper files. Better tends to be situational, and expediency and efficiency is what is better in my circumstances. I wear many different hats in our SOHO business, so I have to work as quickly as possible if I ever intend to have any free time 🙂
