Print Ready PDF increasing 300 ppi images embedded in illustrator

Hi there,

I'm tasked with making an artwork a print ready pdf - however some of the images are below 300ppi and I can't seem to increase them in photoshop. They are embedded in there, so I unembedded those images and tried to increase the ppi to 300 but it didnt change anything.

Should I request a packaged file illustrator file? Thoughts?

Upsampling the resolution may not help the print quality for photographic images, although it will let a low-resolution image pass preflight and give the appearance that all is OK, when it may not be as all you have done is tricked the software.

If I right-click on an image and select Edit Using and then select Photoshop, when I close and save the uprezed image, when returning to Acrobat Pro I can see that the resolution has increased, so I can't duplicate your issue.
