Question

Printing double-sided won't print inserted blank pages

Hi all,

I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, and am trying to print the PDF double-sided, with blank pages inserted. I see the blank pages in the thumbnails and the page counts. But when I print, all the blank pages are ignored and removed, which messes up the double-sided formatting (I'm trying to get each new section to start on an odd page).

I've even tried creating a page with white placeholder text, and it still doesn't read it as a printable page.

I'm baffled. I know I've been able to do this before!

Your printer may be on a paper saving trip. I never had XI, so I'm not sure 100%, but I do not know an option in Acrobat 9 and DC that would omit printing white pages.

As a workaround do pages with a very small point as page content. The point should not be white, as this renders to no content.

When posting a problem, please add also infos about your OS and version. And with print problems, you should also add the printer and model. This is of tremendous help.

A last tip: most of the printing problems get solved by installing the latest printer driver available on the manufacturers web site.
