Question

Printing .pdf files, what is showing on both the screen and the print preview is not what gets printed.

I have Adobe Acrobat Standard DC installed on Windows 10 printing to a Lexmark printer. When I print .pdf files sent in by my clients regularly what is showing on both the screen and the print preview is not what gets printed. Often large amounts of the page are just blank or it prints random words. On multi-page documents it might only print the first page and then a third of the next page, yet shows them all in the print preview. Very frustrating. How do I fix this please ?

Please post the exact printer name, Acrobat version and Windows version.

Did you try print as image (advanced button on the print dialogue)?

Does this happen only with a specific clients file? Does it also happen with Adobe supplied PDF files?

Lexmark C782 or Lexmark MX710de printers, Adobe Acrobat Standard DC Version 2018.011.20055, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

Yes have tried print as an image and got a better result but still not the complete document.

It happens with a number of clients and I have resorted to transferring the effected files to an older machine running Windows 7 that prints them perfectly without having to use the "print as image" setting.

Frustrating that you buy the latest & greatest software only to find that the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version on an older Windows OS works better.

There is a reason for that. But yes, you are right.

Do CTRL-D (properties) and look at the creators software (first tab).
