Question

Printing works sometimes in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

A few users are having issues printing PDFs from Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  Every so often, when trying to print, there is no response to the printer.  No error message would come up, nothing.  The workaround would be to restart Adobe Acrobat Reader and then it would print the PDF.  It seems too cumbersome when this error happens to restart Adobe and print PDF's until it stops working especially since these users may have to print out multiple PDFs at a time.

This problem cropped up around a couple of weeks ago and was wondering if a recent update caused it to have this error, or if this is a known issue.  Either way, I was wondering how I can resolve this issue.

Thanks

Hi jasonw1976,

Could you please try running Reader as an administrator, then try to print and see if that works.

If you have Windows Operating System installed on the machines, you might try print pdf as image as described in the following link:

Print PDF as image | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Also, confirm the version of Reader installed on the machine?

Which Operating System is installed on the machine-Mac/Windows?

Unfortunately, since these are end-users using Adobe Acrobat to print PDFs, they cannot open as administrators without admin credentials. By default, if a PDF is downloaded, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC opens automatically.

I decided to pick one user as a guinea pig and uninstalled/reinstalled Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on their computer to see if this resolves this issue.

But to answer those last two questions:

The version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is: 15.020.20042

The version of Adobe Acrobat DC is 15.006.30244

The Operating System is Windows 7 Enterprise

Hi jasonw1976,

I am sorry for the delay in response.

Could you please try installing the latest patch for Reader and see if that resolves the issue?

To do that, launch Reader>click Help>select Check for Updates

You can also download updates manually from here: Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

Let me know how it goes.

Thank You,

Shivam
