Question

Pro DC will not allow MP4 H.264 video to be added to PDF

OK, Adobe states that Flash Player is no longer supported, Flash Player end-of-life | Impact in Reader and Acrobat states that non-Flash content is still supported and Add multimedia files to a PDF provides the simple instructions for adding a video.

Yet when I click Add Video in the Rich Media tool and select my MP4 video Acrobat displays a "To view the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC" warning.

The video plays in Windows, so what's the problem with Acrobat's Rich Media tool? Why doesn't it add the video as Adobe states it should?

Thanks. Acrobat was updated around 2020-2021 to add videos in a new way that doesn't need Flash. But that applied to Acrobat 2020 (perpetual license) and Acrobat DC (subscription). Your old Acrobat 2015 (perpetual license) is frozen in the past, and so you cannot add videos for use today. I recommend getting a subscription from now on.

Argh, I was afraid of that. Thanks for that information. Adobe's versioning information is a bit confusing. Sure, they state "Adobe Acrobat DC" on those links, but I have "Pro DC" and as they didn't provide a cutoff, I thought "Pro" was an even better version of "DC".

What's your exact version of Acrobat? Not "latest" please.
