Problem Adobe Professionell Unbefristet von 2020 von windows auf Mac OS Übertrag

Guten Tag,

Jan

Good day,

I have the following problem:
A few years ago, I purchased a perpetual (non-subscription) version of Acrobat Professional. Adobe is now saying that this version has been discontinued, which is very frustrating, as I wanted to install the software on my Mac.

I own two installation CDs, one for Mac and one for Windows. However, when I log into my Adobe account, it states that the license is only valid for the Windows platform.

Could someone please help me with this issue? Unfortunately, the phone support only gives evasive answers and says they cannot assist me. The instructions regarding deactivation and similar steps also do not work.

Kind regards,
Jan

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out, I understand how frustrating this situation can be, especially when you’ve purchased a perpetual license and still have the original installation media.

Here’s what’s important to know:

1. Perpetual Acrobat licenses were platform-specific
Older perpetual (non-subscription) versions of Acrobat were licensed either for Windows or for macOS, not both. Even if the retail box included two CDs (one for Mac and one for Windows), the serial number itself is tied to a single platform.
If your Adobe account shows the license as Windows-only, then that serial number cannot be activated on macOS.

2. Discontinuation limits reactivation and support
Adobe has officially discontinued perpetual Acrobat versions (such as Acrobat X, XI, 2017, etc.). Because of this:

New activations may fail, especially on newer macOS versions

Platform swaps (Windows ↔ Mac) are no longer supported

Adobe support can no longer reissue or convert serial numbers

This is why phone support is unable to assist further, even though you still own the discs.

3. macOS compatibility is also a blocker
Even with a valid Mac serial number, most older Acrobat versions do not run on modern macOS releases due to Apple’s 64-bit and security changes. This means installation or activation would likely fail regardless.

If you still have access to a Windows system, you may continue using the software there (as long as activation still works).

For macOS, Adobe’s supported path forward is Acrobat subscription (Acrobat Standard or Pro).

If you only need basic PDF tasks (viewing, commenting, light edits), you may want to consider Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Hope this information will help.
