Question

problem preview pdf files in outlook in silence mode

Hi,

I’m having an issue where PDF previews in Outlook do not work correctly after deploying Adobe Acrobat using the Customize Wizard.

I configure all required settings in the wizard, then deploy via either setup.exe or the MSI.

  • When I install silently using the command line in setup.ini (CmdLine=/sall /rs /smur) or via the MSI, the PDF preview in Outlook does not work.

  • When I install interactively (with the GUI), the preview works perfectly.

Has anyone encountered this issue or know what might be causing it?

    Hello Doryshe,

I looked into the issue, and these checks may help. After installing Acrobat, verify that the PDF Preview Handler is registered under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\ShellEx\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f}. Also, check Outlook’s Trust Center → Attachment Handling → Previewers and make sure PDF Preview is enabled. If the registry entry is missing after a silent install, add a post-install registry repair. Also, check whether multiple Acrobat/Reader versions are installed, as they may cause conflicts. If your problem is not solved after using this, then you need to repair your Outlook PST file. Sometimes, when your Outlook files suffer due to any kind of issue, this issue also occurs. In such a case, you can use an Outlook PST repair tool to fix this issue permanently.
