Problem when editing text - the font changes to a odd wingding

I'm having a problem that is driving me crazy and I can't find any fixes by searching.  I'm making a form and when I go to edit a text box that has Ariel in it the font changes to Z@R3DD6.tmp.  I can't select Ariel.  I can select Times New Roman or about any other font, even Ariel Bold.  I've gone into the preferences and set Ariel as the default font and the fall back font.  I've deleted all the weird fonts from my MS font palette.  What could be causing this.  If you search for that font, it doesn't even come up.

Hello to both of you who have had suggestions.  Thank you.  In frustration I rebooted my computer, and Volia, problem solved.  Gotta love Microsoft.

Hi,

Can you confirm:

  • the exact version of your operating system and software
  • are other programs (like MS Word or other Adobe software) affected by the same problem ?
  • have you updated, upgraded or installed anything recently?

I would advise against deleting fonts, that could cause major issues in your system.

Have you tried to install Arial again?
