Problem with automatic skewing

My problem seems to be some sort of automatic skewing when I go to edit a document. The backround image just goes crooked when I hit Edit. Example:

Any ideas on how to fix it from doing this will be appreciated. I already tried messing with the Recognize text checkmark thingie, which doesn't fix the problem.

After studying the two images I use as my Examples, I realized that the image isn't actually being skewed. The image remains the same, but some sort of white border or overlay or something is what is being skewed making the image appear crooked at first. Seeing the two images side by side, I noticed the black vertical line to the left remained straight, which made me figure it out. So.. what is THAT about?

You are correct that trying to Edit that document is initiating the problem. When you go to Edit, Acrobat will try to OCR the page and to do that it deskews the contents so it can do the OCR. Just out of curiosity I did try to find any option to uncheck that feature and it does not appear that such an option exists.

However, back to the beginning. What are you trying to edit in this document? There is no text.

Editing in Acrobat is a subtle thing where it is best to only edit minimal things, not wholesale re-create. If you wish to actually edit this document, you need to go back to the original application that created it. If, for example, you want to write some text in the document, do an Export to Word and then you can open this up in Word and type away all you want.

Thank-you for responding. Initially, I had text on the pdf, which I was editing. Since the text did not get skewed by the problem, I did not bother with it in my Example. It's doing a Rotate/Skew ClearScan OCR, which I can undo in the Edit dropdown menu, which is the only reason I say that's what it is. But, when I continue editing, it gets crooked again. I can click the checkbox for "Recognize Text", which does the same thing, i.e. fixes the problem until I go back to editing. Was working fine before; have not had an issue for years. It just started a couple of days ago. No clue what I did to mess it up. Some sort of mouse click drag thing.

Hi Gothsin666,

The problem is that your image has something in it that Acrobat is trying to "straighten." Of course, since computers are dumb, Acrobat doesn't know what should or should not be straightened. As to why this is happening now and not before, I have no clue as I do not have enough information. In fact, at this point, I don't even know what information I'm missing.

One thing: when you say "Since the text did not get skewed by the problem, I did not bother with it in my Example." Are you saying that the text does not get skewed but the image (background) does? If so, that's amazingly bizarre.

Look, starting last Friday, Adobe is off until Jan. 4th or something like that (I do not work for Adobe, I'm just a guy who spends too much time on the computer.) If you're still having problems in the new year, either jump on this thread again and I'll get it or PM me and I'll see if I can find someone at Acrobat who can help. Or someone who might know more about this than me (shouldn't be that hard) can chime in as well on this thread.
