Problem with overwrite PDF file in Adobe Acroabt Reader 2025.

Hi,

I have the latest 64-bit version of Adobe Acrobat Reader 2025 and I can't overwrite a PDF file when the file originates from a different endpoint.

I know how to disable Protected Mode, but for security reasons, Protected Mode must be enabled on my domain.

The problem doesn't affect all files.

Can you tell me what the difference is when a file is locked and when it isn't? The two files originate from different computers.

@adams220 When you can't overwrite a PDF that came from a different computer, it's because Adobe's Protected Mode is being extra cautious. It sees the file's outside origin (like a network drive or email) as potentially risky. It then opens the file in a security cage (the sandbox) which blocks Acrobat from touching or changing the original file on your network, preventing the save. The files that do save are ones Acrobat recognizes as safe, usually because they originated locally on your computer.
