Problems signing PDF which results in error CGetSigningParams-4001

A colleague is trying to sign a document that has already been signed by at least one person. When he tries to use his digital ID, which was saved in his Mac's keychain, he gets a "Bad parameter" error box, followed by an unknown error box that says "Support information: CGetSigningParams-4001"

Any ideas?

Hi there

Thanks for sharing the additional information. Once the PDF is signed and the signature process is complete, the PDF becomes read only and gets locked for any further changes.

Hi Alfredo

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to sign and getting the error CGetSigningParams-4001

Please try the following steps and see if that works for you:

  1. Launch Adobe Reader
  2. Select Edit -> Preferences...
  3. Select "Signatures" from Categories
  4. Click "More..." button on Creation & Appearance block
  5. Uncheck "Use modern user interface for signing and Digital ID configuration"
  6. Click "OK" button and then again click "OK" button on Preference dialog

Hope it will help

Hi Amal,

Thank you for the suggestion. I followed your instructions and Adobe Acrobat DC still reports one error "Bad parameter", but now I can see the signature dialogue box. However, when I try to apply it to the document, it fails to sign it nonetheless.

Also, I realize that I forgot to mention something that may be relevant. This is a document where another person has already signed on another line, but the document wasn't routed through Adobe Sign. I think it was a simple document that had signature fields added (3 of them) with the idea of having three different persons sign it. I wonder if the fact that one person already signed properly with what looks like an embedded Adobe digital signature may be the cause of the problem?
