Hello, I would like to change the ICC profile of a PDF document. Is this possible, and how can it be done, without starting from an Indesign or Illustrator file?

    Hi bertrandd43293954,

    Thank you for reaching out.

In Acrobat Pro, it's important to differentiate between a PDF's Output Intent profile and the ICC profiles associated with individual objects within the document. A single PDF can contain multiple images and objects, each with its own color profile.

To check the ICC profile of a specific image or object, follow these steps:

    1. Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro.

    2. Go to Tools > Print Production > Output Preview.

    3. Enable Object Inspector under Preview

    4. Click on the image or object you want to examine.

Acrobat will display information about the selected object, including its color space and any associated ICC profile.

Please note that the profile selected in the Simulation Profile menu of Output Preview is for soft-proofing and visual simulation only. It does not necessarily reflect the profile used when the PDF was created.

For a more comprehensive analysis, you can also use the Preflight tool, which inspects color information and checks PDF standards compliance for the entire document. You may find more information in these help documents: Preflight profiles (Acrobat Pro) and Working with color profiles.

    Hope the information helps.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

Thank you for your response. I was not looking to check the ICC profiles of the pdf document, but to replace them, if necessary, without starting from the original document (Indesign or Illustrator file). And I finally figured out how to do it.
