Proving Fraudulent Signature on an Adobe Acrobat Document

Hello Adobe Community,

I'm in a heck of a situation. Without my knowledge or consent, my husband forged my signature electronically on an Adobe Sign document, which was a loan for a substantial amount of money that we are not able to repay within the time frame outlined in the contract. This is only one of many seriously problematic things my husband, soon-to-be ex-husband, has done. Is there a way I can prove that the signature was a forgery? We have both been served with a lawsuit from the lender. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Forging a digital signature is much like forging a real one, unless it's backed by some mechanism that validates the person's ID when signing, for example by scanning a real ID card or logging in using an email account and/or telephone number associated with that person. If it's just an open "Sign here" field, anyone can sign it using any name they want, and there's really no way to prove otherwise.

A digital signature is more powerful to do the opposite, ie. prove that you were the person who originally signed the file (by providing the public key to validate it), but not the other way around.

Contact a good lawyer and report it as fraud to the police, would be my advice. Good luck!
