Radio Button's "participant role" isn't changing

The radio buttons "participant role" default to "anyone".

And when I try to change that in the properties the corresponding box is grayed out and can't be changed. Is their a way to change it?

The problem arose because I was trying to get the signatures of both sender and receiver.

The form requires two signatures. One from sender, one from the receiver. But when I set the "participant role" for the sender's signature and sent the form to be signed, I wasn't asked to sign it even when the receiver signed and filled the form.

So I changed the participant role in the sender's signature to "prefill" which fixed the signature problem (when I sent it, I first get asked to sign it) but that sent the form already filled out and can't be changed because all the radio buttons were filled by default by me because their role is defaulted to "anyone".

For anyone finding this years later through a Google search, I ran into this exact same problem (Radio buttons, for whatever reason, don’t allow you to change the Participant Role in Properties, unlike every other field).  This is annoying when you are trying to save a document to use as a template for lots of future signatures (like an offer letter template).

I was able to fix this by manually changing the name of the field itself, to match the “format” that Adobe changes fields to when you assign a role.  For instance, I wanted to mark my radio buttons as “Prefill” so I changed the field name from “Position_Type” to “Position_Type_es_:prefill” manually. By adding the same “_es_:prefill” suffix that Adobe adds to fields you can change the role for, it allows it to work the way it’s supposed to, and that field is now correctly assigned to the prefill role when you go into the e-sign flow. I assume it would work the same with other roles (such as signer1, etc)

I noticed a few people asking this without any clear answer or solutions so just wanted to make sure this was out there for anyone that needed it.
