It seems that "Keep tool selected" is defaulted to "on" in the new interface.  How do you turn it off or default to off?

Finally got an answer on how to turn it off.  Click the hand tool.  But you have to do this for every field you place and I have no idea if you can turn it off permanantly or how.  Another reason NOT to use the new UI.

One big issue, it takes up way too much screen realestate. I need the editing options to be on the top not the side. With editing on the left and page navigation on the right you have to have an extra wide screen or a very small font. This is terrible. I will probablly switch back to classic

I only use the previous UI.  If they ever scrap the old one I don't know what I will use.  I coach some people who, for some reason, want to use the new one (probably because they are new to the software).  I don't have an answer for them on how to turn off "keep tool selected" in Prepare A Form, or even if you can.  Nobody seems to be able to provide an answer.
