Question

Read Out Loud skipping Alt tags and reading headers and footers

We have a large PDF doc (~800 MB uncompressed) that was working properly when using Read Out Loud. Headers and footers were skipped and Alt tags on Figures were being read. We bookmarked the document, and now Read Out Loud has begun skipping the Alt tags and headers and footers are being read.

We are working on MacOS 10.14.6, and added the bookmarks using Acrobat DC 2019.012.20036.

The original file is PDF-1.4. The bookmarked document is PDF-1.6.

Rachit,

Here's a link.

The "New Bookmarks From Structure" command was used to build bookmarks from H1 elements. We then added some manual bookmarks where H1 elements were missing.

One more thing. There were some late-breaking changes to a few Alt tags. We changed them using the Acrobat "Set Alternate Text" tool.

Hi,

I checked the issue on my side and I'm not able to reproduce it. Following are the details of my system environment:

  • 10.14.6 Mac OS
  • Build : Acrobat DC 2019.012.20036.
  • Checked Read Out loud on given document. Works fine.
  • Added bookmarks via "New Bookmarks From Structure" and manual booksmarks
  • Updated and add Alt text for Figures.
  • Checked Read Out loud on given document. Works fine.

I'm not able reproduce the issue on my side. Please also share a video of the same for better reproducibility. Also share the original document as well.

Thanks

Rachit
