Recent Acrobat Update Causes Print Failures When "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size" Is Enabled

We identified what appears to be a bug introduced in a recent Adobe Acrobat update.

After updating Acrobat, PDFs fail to print correctly when "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size" is enabled.

We were able to reproduce the issue on multiple machines and confirmed it was introduced by a recent update. Rolling Acrobat back to a previous version immediately resolved the problem.

This particularly affects workflows using the PDF Printer, where the setting is required to preserve page orientation when packaging documents for digital signing.

Posting this for Adobe's awareness, as we have implemented a workaround by rolling affected users back to an older version, but it would be great to see this issue investigated and resolved in a future release.

    • When you say that “PDFs fail to print correctly,” does it mean that the PDF prints, but the orientation or size is incorrect?

    We are also having this exact issue on version 21771.  There is no sample output to share - Acrobat fails to complete spooling the job to the printer.  Tried multiple printers, multiple computers.  We had a computer on an older Acrobat release and it was fine.  Updated to 21771 and it’s now broken.

    Thanks for confirming this and sharing the screenshot.

    To make sure this gets tracked properly alongside the original report: since the spooling fails completely rather than printing with wrong output, that's a distinct symptom worth calling out separately, even though it looks related to the same "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size" regression in 21745/21771.

    A couple of details that would help:

    1. Are you also using "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size," or does this happen regardless of that setting?

    2. What OS are you on, and are these physical printers, virtual/PDF printers, or both?

    3. Does disabling "Choose Paper Source by PDF Page Size" (if it's enabled) let the job complete, even if orientation isn't preserved?

    This thread is already on the product team's radar (Meenakshi flagged it above), and your report adds useful confirmation that it's affecting multiple environments, not just the original setup. I'd add the OS/printer details above directly to this thread so it's attached to the existing report rather than starting a separate one.
