Hello. I am trying to redact a PDF that is almost 300 pages long. I initally redacted the entire file and then tried to save it. Of course, it wouldn't save. I then went back and tried to redact one page alone and save, but that was also not working. I cannot even make a single redaction that will save. Once I'm ready to save, it prompts me to rename the file and save, and then I get a loading bar at the bottom of my screen. Nothing happens after that. Eventually, the message at the top of the screen says "Adobe Acrobat not responding" and I'll have to close the app. This work is part of my job; please send any suggestions on how to get the redactions to save. Thank you for any help.

Sounds like the file might be corrupt. Can you extract pages from it, for example?

You can try to fix this issue by creating a new blank file, copying the pages from the original file into it, then saving it (after deleting the first blank page) under a new name.

Thanks for the tip. This seems like the most likely situation, though I don't know how the file would have gotten corrupt. I tried copying the file locally like the previous comment suggested but the redactions still wouldn't save. I then tried your suggestion, copying the pages onto a blank file. This is time consuming, but seems to be working well. And I am making sure to save as I go along this time!

There are 1000 opportunities for a file to get corrupt. You should be able to select the first page, shift select the last page and drag and drop the pages to the new file. If that fails, do that with half of the pages. It may well be that exacly one page in the file is corrupt. You will need to see what you are doing with those. That will depend on the situation.

Why of course?

Are you working on a local file or a networked file?

If the file is networked, would you mind copying it locally and trying there to redact the file? If that works, you can copy back the redacted file and delete the local copy. In this case, you would need to investigate your network.

If that is not a solution to your issue, you should tell us your Acrobat and version and your OS and version.

Thanks for the suggestion; I will try that and update you if it works. I said "of course it wouldn't save" because I knew better than to work on a large file without saving as I go lol.
