Redaction Error

PDF keeps going into "not responding" mode as soon as I press "repeat mark across pages". This was not the issue earlier but now a days its happing with very file .I tried changing PC, tried reducing number of pages as well as the data quantity but no joy. Need your help!

 

PS:Redacting single word using "repeat mark across pages" across  10 pages takes almost ~20 mins if lucky.

To help investigate this further, could you please provide the following details?

 

Information we need:

  • Adobe Acrobat version number

  • Operating system (Windows/macOS with version)

  • Timeline: When did this issue first start happening? (e.g., after an update or with specific files)

  • A sample file (or a couple) where this issue occurs

  • Acrobat diagnostics logs:

    • Go to Help > Troubleshoot Acrobat

    • Enable Advanced Logging

    • Reproduce the issue

    • Stop diagnostics and share the log ID or exported log files

     

 

Steps to try in the meantime:

  • Copy files locally before redacting

    Working from a network location or synced drive (like OneDrive/Google Drive) can cause save or permission issues.

  • Check for pending updates

    Go to Help > Check for Updates and install any available fixes.

  • Test redaction with a newly created version of the PDF

    Try printing the file to PDF or saving as a flattened copy, then attempt redaction on that version.

 

 

Additional Notes:

Redaction errors may occur with files that have complex formatting, embedded scripts, security restrictions, or that were created using non-Adobe PDF tools. Logs and sample files help us narrow it down faster.

    • Go to Help > Troubleshoot Acrobat

    • Reproduce the issue

    • Stop diagnostics and share the log ID or exported log files

Let's enable the option "Troubleshoot Acrobat":

1. Launch Acrobat > Edit > Preferences or Menu > Preferences 

2. General > check - "Enable Troubleshooting"

 

Then let's collect Acrobat diagnostics logs: 

  • Go to Help > Troubleshoot Acrobat

  • Enable Advanced Logging

  • Reproduce the issue

  • Stop diagnostics and share the log ID or exported log files

 

Also, it would be helpful for product engineering if you created a screen recording of the issue using the sample file you shared.
