Redaction Issues

I work for an attorney and am redacting documents for production.  I have run into two problems.

First problem - I have made redactions to a document, but when I click on "Apply" the programs stops responding.  I have closed the document.  I have closed the program and opened it again, then brought up the documents.  No matter what I have tried the redactions will not apply and allow me to save the documents as redacted.

Second - I need to delete some pages from a redacted document.  I click on "organize pages" and click on the pages I want to delete, I get a message that those pages cannot be deleted because one or more pages are already open.  However, in Adobe I only had one document open.  How can I find out where the pages are being used in another document?

Thank you so much for your help.

You're facing common Adobe Acrobat issues: redactions not applying and inability to delete pages due to perceived open files. For redaction freezes, try **optimizing the PDF**, processing large documents in **chunks**, or "printing to PDF" to create a cleaner file. Ensure you **close all other applications** and **update/repair Adobe Acrobat**. For the "pages open" error, the most effective solution is to **fully close all Adobe Acrobat processes via Task Manager** (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), or **restart your computer** entirely, then open *only* the target document to delete pages. The error usually stems from hidden Adobe windows or lingering background processes, not actual other documents you're aware of.

Hi judith_6563,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble.

As the application is not responding, please try the troubleshooting steps suggested in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/40pv29v

If the suggestion in the document does not help, try reinstalling the application using the steps suggested below:

-Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/4erQArZ).
-Reboot the machine
-Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://adobe.ly/4ne6ABM.

If you still experience the issue, please check if it happens with a particular file. Let us know if the file is saved locally or on a network drive. Also, share the Acrobat and OS version numbers you use.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
