Question

Reduced Size PDF "Conversion Warning" Adobe Acrobat Reduce File WILL NOT EXPORT PDF

I've scoured the community looking for an answer but unfortunately nothing so - hopefully i'm not alone in this and we're able to get a fix.

Mac M4 Mini running Sequoia 15.5 - Acrobat Version 2025.001.20529

For this particular example, I'm opening a pdf that has multiple pages with graphics and text. ALSO The graphics that have a little bit of transparency aren't showing up when I open in Acrobat - that's another issue (and I from something similar on my search, that's one of the problems) - then when I simply go to File - Compress a PDF - (retain existing) no changes - I click OK and then I get the "Conversion Warning".

No amount of playing around on my own has fixed this and I haven't found anything clear as to what's going on. Hopefully someone can walk me through.

Thank you!

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. Also, share the screenshot of the error message for more clarity.

Update your Acrobat Application to the latest version 25.01.20566 from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Please try the steps below and see if that works:

  • Go to Tools >  Print Production > Preflight
  • Use the "Flatten transparency" fix-up under PDF/A compatibility or similar options.

This helps convert transparent graphics into more Acrobat-friendly formats. For more information, please check https://adobe.ly/3IwmIPg

Change Compression Settings:

  • In Acrobat, go to File > Compress a PDF
  • When the dialog appears, try changing from "Retain existing" to a different preset (e.g., "Medium" or "High"). and see if that works. For more information, please check https://adobe.ly/44KAC9j

Let us know how it goes

Hi Amal,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

When I go to Help > Check for Updates - it says "Adobe Acrobat is already up to date" and that is at 2025.001.20529

When I open most of my PDFs like this, they are not showing certain text under a certain amount of transparancy (which is necessary for the document as they are visual pitch decks for films so the creative part of fading some of the text is necessary. The PDF itself is created in Apple's Pages program. If the text is under 100% transparancy, it doesn't seem to show up when opened in Acrobat.

This issue only recently within the last month or so started having this issue.

The fix by going to Preflight didn't do anything as the text wasn't viewable in the original opening of the document into Acrobat anyway. All that did was show the outline of boxes where I input text into the previous program.

So, unfortunately this didn't work. Would appreciate any other options to fix.
