Reduced Size PDF - what is the image ppi reduced to?

Morning,

When reducing a pdf in size using in Save As Other with 'Reduced Size PDF' what is the ppi quality of the image(s) reduced.to - e.g. down to 100 ppi?

It’s liable to change or be variable as Adobe try to be smart. If you want control you can use Save as...Optimized PDF.

My tests show that the resulting PPI is about 150 for images with resolutions larger than 150ppi. Anything lower stays at that lower level. It also changes the compression method.

Thanks Karl.  Good to know the approximate reduction is around 150 ppi, so I can decide on whether or not to do a quick Reduced or play with the Optimization options.

As TSN indicated, using the reduced size PDF option is unpredictable. If you only have Adobe Acrobat Standard, than that's the only option that's available to you. If you do have Pro, then I would recommend to spend the time once to come up with a set of optimizations that works for you, and then always use that. This way, you don't have to rely on Adobe to not change this feature dramatically in a future release of Acrobat.
